Settings related to Outgoing SMTP Server

To make sure that the outgoing server settings are properly configured, click the More Options button and verify that you are using the setting below:
Authentication: Use Incoming Server Info
Alternative ports for the Incoming IMAP and Outgoing SMTP Servers
1. Choose Tools, then Accounts.
2. On the Accounts page, select on the left sidebar your email account to start managing it.
By default, Outlook 2019 for Mac automatically uses the recommended secure connection setting - SSL encryption to connect on port 993 for the Incoming IMAP server and SSL encryption to connect on port 465 for the Outgoing SMTP server.
Suppose a local firewall or your Internet Service Provider (ISP) blocks the default ports 993 and 465. In that case, you can use the following alternative ports: IMAP port 143 with TLS encryption and SMTP port 587 again with TLS encryption.
Below you will find instructions on how to make this email configuration settings change.
- Return to the Accounts screen.
- Under Incoming server and Outgoing server, select the Override default port checkboxes.
- Change the IMAP port number from 993 to 143, and then the SMTP port from 465 to 587. Leave Use SSL to connect (recommended) checked for both servers as it is.
- Click somewhere else on the page to save the settings. Then close the Accounts page.
II. POP configuration instructions:

- Select the Use SSL to connect (recommended) checkbox
- Use the default secure POP port 995
- Outgoing server: smtp.siteprotect.com
- Select the Use SSL to connect (recommended) checkbox
- Use the default secure SMTP port 465
6. On the confirmation screen, click Done to complete the mailbox setup.
Outlook 2019 for Mac will redirect you to the main screen and begin downloading your Inbox emails.
Note: The additional email configuration settings below are optional.
Important Settings for the Incoming POP Server
The POP accounts can Leave a copy of the message on the server. This option is enabled by default in Outlook 2019 for Mac. If you deactivate it (not recommended), Outlook will delete your email messages from the server while downloading to your Inbox folder. Therefore, you will not see your Inbox messages when you access your email account using webmail.
After you add your POP account, you can manage the Leave a copy of the message on the server option by clicking the Advanced button. This will open the Server settings box.
Note: If you set up your mailbox as an IMAP account, emails are synced on your computer. All messages will remain on the mail server until you delete them. This is why we recommend setting up your email account as an IMAP account.
Settings related to Outgoing SMTP Server
For security reasons, our outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication. By default, Outlook 2019 for Mac will automatically configure your outgoing server to use your incoming server credentials. To make sure that the outgoing server settings are properly configured, click the More Options button and verify that you are using the setting below:
Authentication: Use Incoming Server Info
Alternative ports for the Incoming POP and Outgoing SMTP Servers
1. Choose Tools, then Accounts.
2. On the Accounts page, select on the left sidebar your email account to start managing it.
By default, Outlook 2019 for Mac automatically uses the recommended secure connection setting - SSL encryption to connect on port 995 for the Incoming IMAP server and SSL encryption to connect on port 465 for the Outgoing SMTP server.
Important Note: The Incoming POP Server allows connections only on port 995, and TLS encryption is not supported. Therefore, there is no alternative if your local firewall or your Internet Service Provider (ISP) blocks the default port 995. However, you can still use the alternative SMTP port 587 with TLS encryption.
Below you will find instructions on how to make this email configuration settings change.
- Return to the Accounts screen.
- Under the Outgoing server section, select the Override default port checkbox.
- Change the SMTP port from 465 to 587. Leave Use SSL to connect (recommended) checked as it is.
- Click somewhere else on the page to save the settings. Then close the Accounts page.
